Statement of Faith

1. We believe, preach, and teach every God-inspired word of the Holy Bible, all 66 books in their entirety, so the man of God may be complete for every good work.

2 Tim 3:16-17: 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Proverbs 30:5-6: Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. 6 Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

2. We believe that God is present everywhere and possesses infinite knowledge, power, and love. We believe in the Holy Trinity—God is one, yet three equal persons—the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 139:7: Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?

Rom. 11:33: Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

Psalm 147:5: Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.

1 John 4:8: Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 5:7: For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the word (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

3. We believe God made man in His own image and likeness, male and female. By voluntary transgression, man became a sinner, affecting all people to be born sinful, separated from God, and in need of redemption from the just condemnation of eternal punishment.

Gen 1:26-27: 26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Gen. 2:17: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

Gen. 3:13: Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Rom. 5:12: Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—

Rom. 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

4. We believe man can only be saved by the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, by being born again in order to enter God’s kingdom. This is the good news of Jesus, in that He was crucified for all sin, past, present, and future. He was buried, God resurrected Him from the dead, and He is now seated at the right hand of God in heaven.

Eph. 2:8-9: 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

John 3:3,7: Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’”

1 Cor 15:1-4: 15 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

5. We believe that salvation is dependent upon repentance of sin and professed belief in Him as Lord and Savior. Persons who are born again by God’s grace receive gifts from the Holy Spirit, have direct access to God, and have an eternally secured salvation.

Romans 3:23-24: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Romans 10:9: because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Acts 2:37-38: 37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

1 Cor. 12:4-11: 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

John 3:16, 36: 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

Hebrews 4:14-16: 14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Eph. 2:18: For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

Gal. 4:6: And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

John 10:28: I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

6. We believe we are all creations of God and we become part of the family of God through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Rom. 8:16-17: 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Eph. 1:5: he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.

2 Cor. 6:18:  “and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

Gal. 4:6: And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

7. We believe in the life-long process of sanctification, by which born-again persons are transformed from their former lives of sin to lives made evident by holy living and doing God’s will, through obedience to God’s Word, and with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Romans 12:1-2: 1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

1 Tim. 4:7: Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness.

John 17:17: Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

John 14:23: Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

Eph. 3:16: that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being.

Phil 1:6: And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

1 Cor. 10:31: So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

8. We believe that God created man and woman to complement and complete each other, and that He instituted monogamous marriage between them as the foundation of the family and the structure for human society.

Gen 2:18-24: 18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” 19 Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. 21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Heb. 13:4: Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Gen. 1:28: And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

9. We believe Jesus Christ is the head of the church, comprised of believers who call Jesus Lord and Savior. We believe the purpose of the church is threefold: to praise God, to equip and build up the body of believers, and to evangelize the world. Members are called to increase their love and service to God, to others, in accordance with biblical principles.

Col. 1:18: And he [Jesus] is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.

1 Cor. 1:2: To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours.

Eph. 1:14: The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

Eph. 4:11-13: 11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

Matt 28:19-20: 19 “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

1 Cor. 12:12-13: 12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

10. We believe the Church observes the two ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper,
ordained by Jesus Christ.

Matt. 28:19-20: 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

1 Cor. 11:26: For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

11. We believe when persons are born again, they are to be baptized in water by full immersion (unless physically impossible), as a public testimony of their faith and fellowship in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, in obedience to God’s Word.

Acts 2:41: So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. Romans 6:3-5: 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.

12. We believe in observing the Lord’s Supper, partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, which represent Jesus’ body and blood. We remember the new covenant with God.

Matt. 26:26-29: 26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” 27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

1 Cor. 11: 23-25: For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

13. We believe in welcoming everyone to our church. Our focus is to grow in our relationship with God, and to love and serve others. We are all broken people, because of sin, and struggle with life’s many problems, difficulties, and trials. No matter how desperate and beyond hope one feels, we believe that the good news of God’s love and grace can change anyone’s life, to continually grow in adherence with Scripture. We welcome all people seeking to know God and grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Matthew 22:37-39: 37 And Jesus said to the lawyer, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Prov. 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

1 John 1:3: That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us, and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

14. We believe in a literal heaven for all believers and a literal hell for all those who reject Jesus. Jesus promised believers eternal blessedness in heaven in God’s presence, and for those who reject Jesus, eternal punishment in hell.

2 Corinthians 5:10: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

John 14:1-3: 1 Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Matt. 25:32-34, 41: “32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.’ 41Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’

2 Thess. 1:8-9: 8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.
