Reverend William L. Pearl, Pastor

Reverend William L. Pearl, "Pastor Bill," has been Senior Pastor of Union Baptist Church East Killingly, CT since 1997. He grew up in Hampton, CT, is a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University, and worked as a machinist at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford to put himself through college. He received an MS in Business Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. A graduate of the Open Door Fellowship Program in Providence, RI, he was ordained by the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut. He and his wife, Colleen, co-founded Stepping Stone Ministries, Inc., a non-denominational ministry in Hampton, CT. He served as the Pastoral Care Coordinator for North Central Hospice in Rockville, CT. At Union Baptist Church, he and his wife began a youth ministry program, out of which grew Camp Opportunity, a licensed day-camp program for local campers. They also began New Hope Academy, Inc., an accredited private Christian elementary and high school serving the tri-state area until 2019. They ministered together at the church until 2020, when Colleen passed away. Pastor Bill continues to serve Union Baptist Church following its reopening and extensive renovations in 2022. A large gathering of church family and friends honored our pastor at his retirement celebration June 4, 2023. He has faithfully served UBC for 26 years. As “Pastor Emeritus,” he looks forward to ministering in our community outreach and nursing home programs and posting devotionals on the church website.Pastor Bill’s interests include singing, Christian music, ministering to the elderly, and plant propagation. He has one married daughter and three grandchildren.

Pastor Antonio Manalus

Pastor Antonio Manalus was called to Union Baptist Church on January 1, 2023. He grew up in South Portland, ME, and is a 1984 graduate of South Portland High School. He joined the USCG Reserves in May, 1983 while in high school. In 1992, he earned his Associate of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern Maine and worked several years in the private sector as a claims processor at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Portland, as a customer service representative at Guy Gannett Publications, and at Casco Northern Bank as a teller and rose to the position of Assistant Tax Officer of the Trust Department. He is a retired Coast Guard Veteran with over thirty-six years of combined service between the Coast Guard Reserves and Coast Guard Active Duty. He was stationed at Station South Portland, ME, Station Boothbay Harbor, ME, Station Southwest Harbor, ME, and at Station Boston, MA. During his career, he served on four ships—the USCG Barque Eagle, the USCG Escanaba, the USCG Spencer, and the USCG Seneca. He retired in September, 2019. 

He earned his Bachelor’s in Biblical Studies from Boston Baptist College in December, 2022, and is pursuing a Master’s in Biblical Counseling from Baptist Bible College in Missouri.   

Before becoming the Pastor and a member of UBC, he served as an elder for over 15 years at Packerville Baptist Church in Plainfield, CT and received his ordination from this church. 

He has been married to his lovely bride, Doreen Manalus, for over 30 years. They have three children, Peter, Benjiman, and Kimberley, and three grandchildren, Amber, Jack, and Noah. 

His interests include serving in whatever capacity the Lord calls him and his wife, and going wherever He leads. Pastor Antonio enjoys teaching, music, gardening, walking, biking, reading, and sappy movies...mostly because it is all his wife will watch with him!
